Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to what we are asked most, about the retreats, the way we work and the practical side of coming.
Pricing & Payment
Do you offer discounts?
No. One price, the same for everybody, no sales and no codes. If it is genuinely out of reach, tell us on the call and we will find a way.
What if I cannot afford the price?
Tell us on the call. You cover what the retreat costs us to run and we leave it there. No forms, and nobody else will know.
Is the price fixed?
Yes. One price, the same for everybody, and it is the same figure whether you book here or through a booking platform. We do not run sales and we do not negotiate. If it is genuinely out of reach, tell us on the call and we will find a way. If the work turns out to be worth more to you than the list price, you are welcome to give more after you go home, and it goes to the fund that brings someone else.
Do you have a sliding scale?
Only where someone genuinely cannot reach the price. Tell us on the call and you can cover our costs instead. Otherwise the price is the price.
Can I pay more than the price if I want to?
Yes. Leave it with us after your stay and it goes into the fund that pays for someone who could not otherwise come.
What does the price include?
For a full retreat: your room, your meals, the transfers, the practices and the integration afterwards. For a one-day retreat: the day itself, everything in it and the food. Flights, insurance and the psilocybin are the only things outside it.
How do I pay?
By transfer or card before you arrive, or in cash while you are here. If you book through a booking platform, they take the deposit and we collect the balance seven days before you arrive.
What does a one-day retreat cost?
One day is $450 per person, or $750 per couple. Lunch, the practices and the run of the house are included, and the price is the same for everybody. A night is not part of a day retreat.
Is the price per person?
The price on each retreat page is the price for one person. On a full retreat that is one person in the private villa: three days is $1,999, four is $2,999 and five is $3,999. If the two of you take the same villa, the price is one and a half times the single price, so $2,999, $4,499 or $5,999, and the second person shares your suite rather than taking another one. A small group of three or four, or anything else you have in mind, is arranged on the call. A one-day retreat is $450 per person, or $750 per couple.
Common Questions
Does every retreat include psychedelics?
No. Everything we offer is optional, including the medicine. Your retreat is built around what you need and what you are ready for, and nothing is compulsory. Plenty of guests come for the rest, the work and the food, and never ask for a ceremony.
Are your retreats for individuals or couples?
Both. People come alone, and people come as a couple. We build the days differently for each, and we will tell you honestly which retreat suits your situation.
What kind of Tantra do you practice?
Classical Tantra, which works through breath, slow movement, energy awareness and non-sexual conscious touch, always with consent and always at your pace. If you are a couple and want to explore intimacy, we give guidance, and our facilitators never take part in any sexual touch. Our Tantra guide explains how this differs from what you will find online.
What results can I expect from a retreat?
We do not promise results, and we are suspicious of anyone who does. Seeing yourself clearly, or knowing what to do next, comes out of your own work rather than out of ours. What we bring is preparation, the tools and a steady space, and we stay with you while you use them.
What is the primary goal of your retreats?
To help you put down the tension you arrived with and hear yourself think again. We keep the days quiet and unhurried, and we leave room for the work you came to do.
What is the general atmosphere of your retreats?
Quiet, unhurried and friendly. Some hours are hard, and we do not pretend otherwise, but nobody is left alone with a difficult one.
Are your retreats standardized or personalized?
Personalized. There is no set programme to fit yourself into. We build each retreat with you, from what you tell us and from what we see on the day.
What does "spiritual" mean in your context?
It is not religion, and it is not decoration. It means the connection to your own heart, to whatever you call the larger thing you are part of, and to the part of you that already knows what it wants.
How do I know if this retreat is right for me?
You will know more after the discovery call than you do now. Our retreats suit people who are ready to look at their own life honestly. The call is where we both find out whether that is you, and whether we are the right people to sit with you through it.
Is the retreat private?
Yes. One party at a time, whether that is one person, one couple or one small group arriving together. Nobody else is booked into the house while you are here, and no strangers are put in circle with you.
How many guests will be there?
Yourselves, and us. The most we take is four people arriving together, and a group of three or four is a special case we agree on the call. We never mix parties.
Do I have to take the psilocybin?
No. The medicine is optional on every retreat, arranged separately, and most guests do not take it. We will tell you if we think it is not a good idea for you.
Do I need experience with yoga, meditation or psychedelics?
No. Most people who come to us have never done any of it. The yoga is slow and adapted to the body you bring, the meditation is guided, and anything with the medicine happens only after a screening call. You do not need to be fit either.
Do I have to do everything on the schedule?
No. Everything is available and nothing is compulsory, including the sessions you have paid for. Guests who arrive exhausted usually do very little for the first two days, and that is the point of the retreat rather than a failure of it.
What makes this different from other retreats in Tulum?
Most retreats in Tulum are a group, a single ceremony or a yoga holiday. Ours is private, held at our own place in the jungle, and it includes screening before you book and integration sessions afterwards, with two people whose entire job for those days is you.
Psilocybin Sessions
How do you ensure safety during psilocybin sessions?
Safety comes first, and we screen for it before you arrive. We use well-grown mushrooms in carefully considered doses, in a calm and protected setting, and one of us stays with you for the whole of it.
What does a psilocybin session with you involve?
Preparation and intention setting first, sometimes weeks before. The session itself usually happens lying down with a sleep mask, so that the attention stays inside. Afterwards there is time to rest, to eat, and to talk it through, and nobody is rushed out of the room.
What form of psilocybin do you use?
Whole mushrooms, grown in Mexico by a provider we know and trust. Non-commercial, and cultivated with care.
What doses of psilocybin are used?
Small, carefully considered doses. This is not a recreational experience, and we do not run it like one. You can read more in our Ethics Guide.
Are sessions done individually or in groups?
Almost all of them are held for one person or for a couple. We will take a small group, but only people who already know each other, such as a family or close friends, and only if everyone wants to be there.
Are there any medical or psychological contraindications?
Yes, and we take them seriously. We screen confidentially before anything is booked, and **we require you to speak to your own doctor before any psychedelic experience**. A personal or family history of psychosis can rule it out, and so can some medications, including MAOIs, lithium and possibly SSRIs. Tell us everything relevant during screening, including anything you think is minor. This is not medical advice. Our screening and your doctor's assessment are what decide whether this is safe for you.
What happens if I have a challenging experience?
Difficult hours happen, though not often in the way we work. We are trained for them, we do not panic, and we have seen enough of them to know how to stay with you. A hard hour usually has something in it worth having.
Tantra Practices
What specific practices are involved in your Tantra sessions?
Breathwork, slow movement, partner exercises, energy work and conscious touch, which is always non-sexual and always something you agree to first. What we use on the day depends on what you are ready for.
Are Tantric practices suitable for everyone?
Yes. Like yoga, these practices adapt to the person doing them, whatever their experience, age or body. They work for one person and for a couple, and everything is set to your pace rather than to a standard.
Yoga & Meditation
What style of yoga do you offer?
Classical Hatha yoga in the lineage of Maha Sadhana, as taught by Sri Dharma Mittra. Sessions adapt to whatever level you are at.
What kind of meditation will we do?
Several kinds, including practices from the Osho tradition and the way we have come to teach it ourselves. All of them are for noticing what is happening rather than for emptying your mind.
Preparation & Logistics
What is the food like?
A private chef cooks for you, mostly vegan and vegetarian, from fresh local ingredients. Food is part of the work here rather than a break from it, and we cook around whatever you cannot eat.
How long are the retreats?
Most run three, four or five days, and the couples retreat runs four or five. The one-day retreats run from the morning until before dinner, with no night stay. The length is yours to choose, and we usually suggest at least three days, because preparation, the work itself and the settling afterwards each need room.
How much preparation is needed before a retreat?
It depends on what you have done before and what you are coming for. We give you guidance on the call and in writing afterwards, so that you arrive prepared in body as well as in mind.
What are the accommodation options?
The retreats happen at our own place in the jungle just outside Tulum, run by us alone and kept for you alone. The house is modern and self-sufficient, and it is the quiet that guests remember. We will tell you more on the discovery call.
What is a typical daily schedule like?
On a full retreat there is no fixed schedule, because there is no fixed retreat. We agree on a rhythm with you, with one or two sessions a day and long gaps in between for rest, food and doing nothing. A one-day retreat has a shape rather than a timetable, and we will tell you what is on offer when you arrive.
What should I bring?
We send a list before you come. In short: loose clothing for a hot climate, something to move in, swimwear, a hat, a warm layer for the evenings, natural sunscreen and biodegradable repellent, and something to write with. Leave the heavy perfume at home.
Do you arrange airport transfers?
Yes, for the retreats. We arrange private transfers from Cancun (CUN) or Tulum (TQO) with drivers we know, and they are included in the price of a three, four or five day retreat. For a one-day retreat the transfer is not included, since most day guests are already in the Tulum area, and we will arrange one at cost if you want it.
What languages are retreats offered in?
Mostly English. We also speak Russian and Ukrainian between us, and enough Spanish to get by and to ask for help.
Is there wifi or phone signal?
There is wifi at the house and a phone signal across most of the property. Nothing is switched off for you and nothing is confiscated. Guests who want to put the phone down tell us, and we hold them to it.
Is alcohol allowed?
Not during the retreat days. The work here is quiet and it does not mix with alcohol, and nobody misses it after the second day. Tell us before you arrive if that is a problem for you and we will talk it through.
Can I extend my stay or add treatments?
Often, yes. Extra nights, massage, the Mayan clay spa and a temazcal can be arranged subject to availability, and we quote them before you decide. One-day guests can add a treatment to the day.
What is the weather like, and when is the best time to come?
December to April is dry and cooler, and it is the busiest season. May to November is hotter, the rain comes in the afternoon, and the jungle is at its loudest. We host all year and will tell you honestly what to expect in the month you are considering.
What time does the day start and finish?
A one-day retreat starts in the morning and finishes before dinner, and we set the exact hours with you when you book. There is no night stay.
Can we stay the night?
No. One day is one day, morning to evening, and a night stay turns it into a different retreat.
Post-Retreat & Ongoing Support
What kind of support is offered after the retreat?
Two online meetings after you go home, included in the price. Most guests spread them over the first month, because the week after a retreat is usually the strangest one, and it helps to have someone to ask.
What do ongoing support packages include?
If you want company for the longer stretch, our support packages include regular online sessions: nutrition, practical guidance for the weeks you are working through, and someone to talk to who already knows your story.
Safety, Ethics & Policies
How is my privacy protected?
What happens here stays here. We do not discuss guests, we do not use your story, and we do not post photographs without asking. The full Privacy Policy has the detail.
What are your ethical guidelines?
We wrote them down rather than leaving them implied. The Ethics Manifesto sets out what we commit to, including our screening standards, our position on touch, and how we handle money.
What is your cancellation policy?
A 30% deposit holds your dates. It is refundable for 72 hours after you pay it, and after that it is not refundable, though you can move your dates at no charge. The balance is due seven days before you arrive. If we ever cancel, you get back everything you paid us. The Terms of Service hold the detail, and we go through it with you before you book.
What are your qualifications?
Between us we have spent close to forty years practising and teaching. Lena is a certified nutritional practitioner, a Dharma Yoga teacher and a Tantra Kriya Yoga instructor, with twenty years of practice and teaching across Canada, the United States and Mexico. Olga trained under Sri Dharma Mittra from 2007 and teaches at his centre in New York, spent seven years at the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra monastery including a three and a half year sealed retreat, and has a background in medical science, massage and bioenergetics. Full biographies are on the About page.
Are you therapists?
No. We do not diagnose and we do not treat. We screen, we prepare, we hold the space and we help you make sense of what comes up. If you are already working with a therapist or a doctor, keep them involved, and we will work alongside them.
