Rest, burnout & the nervous system

What does burnout feel like before anyone names it?
Your jaw is tight and your breath stops halfway. Sleep does not do what it used to do. These are ordinary signals from a body that has run without stopping.
Compassion Retreats is not a clinic and nobody here will label what you carry. What we see, week after week, is a person who has been holding on for years and has run out of ways to put it down. The days are built around that fact and not around a programme.
What do the days hold?
Sleep and slow mornings. Food cooked on the day. Practices when you want them and nothing when you do not.
Compassion Retreats takes one party at a time, so the timetable is yours and there is no group to keep up with. Whole food comes from the market and from local growers and it is cooked on the day. Cenotes sit within walking distance and the beach is a short drive. If all you do for two days is sleep, that is a full two days.
Is three days enough?
Three days will not undo years of running. What they give you is a stretch of time when nothing is asked of you, and a body that starts to remember what rest is.
Compassion Retreats runs three to five days, from US$1,999 for three days for one person. Some guests sleep through the first day. Some arrive so tired they cannot sit still. Both are ordinary and neither one needs to change before you come.
